BEFORE TeaTimeSunday (0000:00:00:00)
IS SonnetSaturday ...
AND VERSCHIP 3000 will be online
12 HOURS (ENTER VIA the pudding machine)

REMINDER: The software is still in very early prototype form.
(The Iambic Pentameter Recognizer and Sonnet Rhyme Verifier
submodules have successfully processed Boke's 525 sonnets,
but the rhyming dictionary is only 5% of it's ultimate size.

AND the sonnet processing capability is the first step ...
in a much more complex framework. {smile} One step at at time.)

The monkey-bot {g} will report the successes and goofs
(both Verschip's and yours {smile}) to the designer ...

SUNDAY 9 FEBRUARY '03 (VERSCHIP DEMO #2)

ASIDE:
IT IS INSANE to write a
rhyme recognizer FROM
SCRATCH in one week (and an IP module in 3) ...
But you know Boke. {ewg}
It should be noted
that even God thought
a sonnet recognizer
was impossible ...
... and Boke agreed,
then sat right down and
wrote the damn thing. {g}

QUICK CODING SERMON {smile}:
There are now over
5,000 lines of code
in Verschip 3000 ...
... MANY of the lines
contain MISTAKES
and STUPID ideas ...

... BUT it seems,
that IF you try to
erase the stupid
mistakes ... THEN
the program will not
work at all. {g/no joke}

BOTTOM LINE:
Well, you know. {smile}

B 2/9/03

2/9/03 - Post-TeaTimeSunday NOTES:
(VERSCHIP DEMO FOLLOW-UP)
Hmmm ... Let's see... There was smelling, licking, and having {ewg}
of pudding {very happy smile}.

The Rhyme module will be reminded that luv does not rhyme
with iK ... but, perhaps it knows something we don't. {ewg}

Of course, earlier today it was claiming that butterflies
was pronounced butterfleas ... which is also kind of sweet
{smile} ... so maybe we should leave it that way. {ewg} Nah.

Bless your hearts ... All the program errors have been noted
and will be corrected ... after I sleep a few "years." {smile}

Perhaps it is appropriate that the Rhyme Verifier
"CANNOT PROCESS" philosophy {smile} ...
But by tomorrow it will {grin} ...

... philosoFLY. {zzzzzzzzzz} {g}
Sleeping now. B.

VERSCHIP 3000 - PROTOTYPE [0.1]
SUBMODULE: Iambic Pentameter Recognizer
SUBMODULE: (Shakespearean) Sonnet Rhyme Verifier
(NOTE: RHYME MOD WAS WRITTEN THIS WEEK - MANY WKS TO GO.
EXPECT THE PROGRAM TO OFTEN BE WRONG .... FOR NOW. {smile} )

FEBRUARY 9 -- If you want to play with the
latest, miraculous {smile, no joke} TeaTimeSunday
software as it takes shape ... scroll down
PAGE {ZERO} to THE PUDDING MACHINE and click
it during TeaTimeSunday HOUR.

You'll need a complete sonnet to be awarded
pudding, {smile} (and to see the "baby"
Rhyme Verifier try to walk {g})
,
BUT YOU CAN ALSO submit lonely lines of
iambic pentameter to let the MONKEY-BOT know
the vocabulary you might use in the future
(or practice your TeaTime, real-time verse
writing skills {serious smile})

A[rtistic] F[udge] F[actor]
A very important "feature" {serious smile}
. . . for sonnets ... or pudding!

... And on that note, I go back to work
on the Verschip 3000 ....

P.S. Bring your two-character {e.g, FP}
"Pudding IDentification" [PID} along with you
if you come to play with the software.

B.

NOTES:

(*) The IPR SUBMODULE can successfully process the entire
525-sonnet "data set" that Boke has composed.

(*) The Sonnet Rhyme Verifier has made it through the
154 Buffy-Verse sonnets ... but its rhyming dictionary
(being constructed from scratch) will probably take
months to build up. In the meantime, it has been given
200+ heuristic rules to guess how to pronounce words
it doesn't know. {smile} The SNEAKIER RULES about
when two words rhyme NEAR ENOUGH to be acceptable ...
are being added day by day.

RE: CURRENT SITE STATUS

ASIDE:
Hmmm ...
It should be noted
that when Boke ascended
into heaven {smile},
(for having written 500+
Shakespearean-form sonnets)

he thought
he would have peace ...

BUT there sits Boke ...
(with wings on!!!!)
correcting the spelling
errors
in 525 sonnets ...
and (GOOD LORD) writing
thousands of lines of
computer code ...
to recognize a sonnet
when it sees one ...
BECAUSE {ewg}
GOD
wanted PROOF

those 525 things
that Boke wrote
were really sonnets.
Because,
if they weren't,
Boke shouldn't
have been allowed
to to just, you know,
ascend to heaven,
an' all.
Well ... Boke was
about to tell God
to go to hell ...
but decided that was
not too smart {ewg}
BOTTOM LINE
Heaven is not all
that it's cracked
up to be
with all the spelling
correction and
such ... So,
don't rush on
getting there
early. {smile}

2003 SITE NOTES:

2/2/03 - CONGRATULATIONS
to the pudding awardee
... whoever they are. {smile}

{HEY! That's a haiku!!! By accident.}
AND rest assured that the wicked &
mysterious internet character code %85
will be sought out ... and dusted. {g}

Oops ... they didn't get pudding.
It seems they submitted 15 lines of IP --
and pudding is only awarded for 14. {ewg, no joke}
BOTTOM LINE: They missed their pudding ...
and pudding dance. {smile}

P.S. Many thanks to the (now) puddingless person
who informed me that that dastardly %85
is an ... GOOD LORD {ewg} an ellipse!
It seems you can type OPTION semi-colon
and you'll get three little dots. Of course,
it takes a puddingless person to be too lazy
to type three periods {ewg} ... {EWG} BUT,
in any case, the VERSCHIP 3000 will just
ignore the nasty little lazy things
from now on. {very big smile}

PPS: OH WELL ... {smile}
good ol' puddingless {ewg} has
informed me they DID get pudding
... but I can't imagine how {no joke}
UNLESS there was some monkey-bot playing-with
(I leave it to your imagination {ewg}).
BOTTOM LINE: Pudding was had. And spoons, too.
Sleeping now... {smile}

FEB 2 TeaTimeSunday
VERSCHIP 3000 [0.0] DEMO
(Iambic Pentameter Recognition SUBMODULE)
INSTRUCTIONS: CLICK FOR FORMAT RULES
(During TeaTimeSunday HOUR only)
SCROLL DOWN page {0} to pudding-machine,
and CLICK ON IT ... {BEWARE the MONKEY-BOT! [ewg]}

NOTE: The Rhyme Recognition SUBMODULE has not yet been
written, but the IPR will award you PUDDING! if you submit 14 lines
of iambic pentameter.
SUGGESTION: Bring a sonnet to COPY & PASTE
into a submission box. (Or you can just make up lines of iambic
pentameter on the fly and type them in directly.)
REMEMBER: The Verschip 3000 is only 3-weeks old {smile} and it's
dictionary has only about 20,000 words (most of the program code
has to do with chopping off prefixes and suffixes etc) ... SO you
will likely use some words the program doesn't know (YET)....
THOSE will automatically be sent to Boke when TeaTimeSunday is over.
(Unless Boke cannot figure out how to make it do that {g}, in which
case your unknown words will become letters in MONKEY-BOT'S alphabet
banana soup. {ewg} Beware the MONKEY-BOT! BFC

1/29/03 VERSCHIP 3000 PROTOTYPE [0.0]
Iambic Pentameter Recognition SUBMODULE

is ready for PUBLIC DEMO during
Groundhog Day TeaTimeSunday.

DEVELOPMENT NOTES:
Three weeks ago {whew!} ... Boke wrote a 1-page UNIX shell program to operate
as a processor/data-base engine on a (currently small) syllable dictionary file.
Once that worked on a simple example, Boke rewrote the (Bourne) shell program,
in the deranged [sewg] language Perl ... AND THEN ... following the chaos/
complexity paradigm ...
Boke fed EACH of the 525 sonnets he has online
into the VERSCHIP 3000 ...
and added code IN RESPONSE to the input
UNTIL ... the VERSCHIP 3000 Iambic Pentameter Recognizer could
successfully process ALL 525 sonnets.
CLICK TO VIEW PROGRAM CODE
(NOTE: The original one-page program is at the bottom ... "commented out"
with "#" in column one. RULE: Start with something that works. Grow that.)

BIG NOTE: Before Boke bit into this problem, he searched in vain for
a sonnet-recognizer that someone else had written ... AND REALIZED
the reason he couldn't find one ... is that UNTIL NOW {serious smile}
there has never existed a "data set of sonnets" that sufficiently
followed the rules enough for a computer program to make sense of.

THE POINT: Boke had to write 525 sonnets-worth of data ...
... BEFORE the program could be written.
POSTED BY BFC (Boke's First Clone) {ewg}

1/1/03 FOCUS IS TECHNOLOGY ... wading back into Perl, Java, Awk, Sed,
Lex, Yacc ... pondering an automated sonnet recognizer (among other things).

END-OF-YEAR SITE NOTES:
12/30/02: AES SONNETS ARE COMPLETE
(which puts Boke's sonnet total online over 500.
This means Boke will immediately ascend to heaven [smile] ...
BUT, fear not, he is leaving his clone[s?] behind.) [ewg]

12/22/02: AES SONNETS INDEX CREATED (AND SLOWLY BEING FILLED)

12/19/02: SAMPLE "154 AROUND ELEVEN SEPTEMBER [AES]" SONNET
12/18: BEGIN FORMATTING "AROUND 9-11" SONNET SERIES
(this series of 154 will bring the total online to ~500 sonnets)
12/18: Buffy-Verse Series Sonnets -- "PAINTING" IS COMPLETE
12/12: NEXT FEW WEEKS ... "PAINTING" ~ 280 SONNETS
(if Boke -- and his hands -- can stand it. [no joke])
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH GROUNDHOG DAY 2003? [smile] We'll see.
ARCHIVES from Tea Time L.A. are RESTORED
and LINKED back in Time Machine/Daily Index.
12/10: LINKS TO INTERMEZZO THREADS (after TeaTimeLA)
will (some day) be found listed after Tea Time #50 in Index.

META: Framing "the past" ...
while pondering the future.

NOTE: Interactive participation is under redesign until 2003
BOKE's (a/k/a forensicpoetry's) TeaTimeSunday (WEEKLY) RHETORICAL ...
SONNETS WILL ALSO BE TAKING A BREAK (Curious? Talk to the beckoning hand! [smile])

          NOTE: There are about 300 more (archived) sonnets
          ("Buffy-Verse Series" and "154 Around 9-11")
          in the (slow) process of being "painted & posted"
          (Links to some will appear during hiatus)

WRITER-DESIGNER STATUS?
BOKE IS CURRENTLY HIDING OUT IN AN ALTERNATIVE DIMENSION [smile] ...

... WHERE E-MAIL DOES NOT EXIST [serious ewg] ...

"THIS YEAR" AND "EVERYTHING" ...

AND WORKS ON THE GRAND DESIGNS OF "THE FUTURE" ...

AND ORGANIZES SOME SENSE INTO "THE PAST" [smile]
...
...
... PONDER PUDDING! [sewg]

BOTTOM LINE/REMINDER: SONNET SATURDAY!
Starting 24 hours before TeaTimeSunday ...

... Boke (when not on hiatus) begins writing Sunday's rhetorical sonnets. Boke is a freak of nature [grin],

BUT ANYONE can (with practice) enjoy writing one. Go see a movie ... Get riled up about something ...

THEN face the challenge of EXPRESSING WHAT you THINK/FEEL in Shakespeare's sonnet form.

Just ONE... every week ... See what happens. [serious smile] Read Boke's to get a feel for ...

... how to write your own. ... What's this got to do with voting and democracy?

Ponder that [smile] ... while you PONDER PUDDING! [sewg] ###
