BEYOND "NORMAL AGAIN"
[or] FREEDOM: Buffy's, Whedon's, and Ours

I just inhaled some strange gas down in the sewers, and suddenly find
myself scribbling random Buffy thoughts in Shakespearean sonnets . . .
Don't think I can stop myself . . . Oh no . . . here it goes again . . .

{BVS_001_01.01} I ASK YOU: Ever have a lucid dream?

{BVS_001_01.02} A dream you know's a dream -- where you control

{BVS_001_01.03} whatever happens. Although this might seem

{BVS_001_01.04} off topic, I refer to Whedon's goal . . .

{BVS_001_01.05} . . . in letting Buffy's storyline appear

{BVS_001_01.06} to slip into a crazed trajectory.

{BVS_001_01.07} ALTHOUGH some fans aren't bothered, some have fear

{BVS_001_01.08} that Sunnydale was "just" insanity.

{BVS_001_01.09} AND that would make them mad ... 'cause they believed.

{BVS_001_01.10} Now, I don't know how things will all play out,

{BVS_001_01.11} BUT Buffy choosing Sunnydale relieved

{BVS_001_01.12} her from "her destiny" that held such clout.

{BVS_001_01.13} Whatever happens now is in her hands.

{BVS_001_01.14} No more a pris'ner to "the world's" demands.

Hmmm, what the heck does that mean? ...
Sniffing strange sewer gas will do it every time.

(JUST SOME NOTES)
(GO TO BUFFY-VERSE SERIES SONNET #2 OF 154)

RETURN (TO BUFFY-VERSE SERIES SONNET INDEX)

THE LAST TEN SECONDS of this 17th episode of Season
6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer ... implied that Buffy
might actually be a patient in a mental hospital.
This upset a lot of fans, but suited me just fine.
[serious smile] In any case, this "insanity" ...
inspired my composition of the 1st of 154 Buffy-
related Shakespearean-form rhetorical sonnets.
This one was posted on the day before spring began
(2002) at the offical UPN (www.buffy.com) site
before UPN erased all forums (because they no
longer wanted to be responsible for moderating it.)

Unless you are a "fanatic" viewer of Buffy, most
of these sonnets will make no sense [smile], and
I certainly do not recommend becoming a fan just
to read these. In a (real) sense, I "outgrew" TV
drama series by the time I was done... but I won't
get into that here. Good Lord! I'm shushing. [ewg]
